Bruce Hooley’s combination of experience and achievement is rare among Ohio sports journalists.
An award-winning reporter at The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, Bruce transitioned into radio and television in 2005 and has since become a recognizable and credible voice on issues that matter most to Ohio sports fans.
Bruce was a top-rated sports talk host in Columbus on 97.1 The Fan from 2005-2010, hosting afternoon drive and leading in market share not just among the coveted male 25-54 demographic, but also among adults in that category.
In 2010, Bruce accepted an offer to host afternoon drive on ESPN 850 WKNR and be a lead columnist on ESPNCleveland.com.
He combined that role in 2014 with hosting his own state-wide sports commentary show, #Hooley, on Spectrum Cable Sports Channel (311/1311 HD).
Bruce has authored two books on Ohio State athletics and is also the co-author of, Thats Why I’m Here: The Chris and Stephanie Spielman Story.
My Tribute To Dad
My Dad passed away September 8, 2017. He was an inspirational and influential person in my life and molded me into the man I am today. I love you Dad, you will be missed.
Where am I now…
As many of you know, my morning sports show is no longer on the radio. As much as I enjoyed working with Chris and interacting with all of you, I am looking forward to a new chapter in my career. I believe that God has my future in His hands and I am excited to see where He leads. At this time, I don’t know if that will be in radio, podcasts or something completely different. Though the future is uncertain, my faith in God is unwavering and my family and I have no doubt that our great God will see us through. Thank you for all of all of your support over the years and I look forward to sharing my new adventure with you – when I know what it is.
