“Bruce’s passion for his faith comes through very clearly when I’ve heard him speak to Central Ohio FCA Huddles in local schools. Bruce does a great job of relating his life experiences to his journey toward discovering a personal, thriving relationship with Christ. He is able to convey in a very sincere way how much he cares about the students and how deeply he wants them to understand their worth to God at a time in their lives when self-identity can be a struggle. I would not hesitate to book Bruce for any size group or event. He’s very comfortable in front of people and would prepare a unique message to fit the needs of his audience."
Nathan Sulc, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Central Ohio Chapter
I hope you have an opportunity to hear Bruce speak at some time, and preferably more than once. Bruce is a gifted communicator, is engaging and shares content worthy of your and my time. He is a man of faith and a sports expert — two loves we have in common.

Chris Spielman was a high school and Ohio State football legend and a four-time Pro Bowl linebacker, but he didn’t tackle his toughest opponent until his playing career was almost over. In 1998 his wife Stefanie was diagnosed with breast cancer, and so began an 11-year journey that brought joy and suffering to the Spielmans, as well as hope and inspiration to thousands of others. In That’s Why I’m Here, Spielman traces his storied career, recalls his courtship of Stefanie Belcher, cherishes the growth of their four children and invokes the deep spiritual faith that gave their family wisdom and comfort in times of struggle. Though there are plenty of on-the-field tales in the book, its not just for football fans. Its for people whose lives have been touched by cancer, for people whose own faith has wavered, for people who want to meet a woman of tremendous beauty, grace and strength. Though Stefanie passed away on Nov. 19, 2009, her memory and inspiration live on. With laughter and tears, joy and heartbreak, this book lets you know her spirit is still here.
In Ohio States Unforgettables, Bruce Hooley profiles those who have made the Buckeyes synonymous with excellence in collegiate athletics. From the Heisman Trophy winners to a host of All-Americans and individual national champions in every sport, OSUs greatest athletes recall the on-field achievements that elevated them to unforgettable status in the hearts of their fans. Archived photographs revisit the eras in which these performers were the envy of both their supporters and their competitors. From Chic Harley to Eddie George, from John Havlicek to Scoonie Penn, Ohio State’s Unforgettables will thrill and entertain those who bleed scarlet and gray.
Bruce isn't in the only one in the family who writes books. His wife, Sheri, has written a series of fictional books for teenage girls. Hear from her about why she wrote these books.
When I was in the third grade, I had an assignment to write a story for Halloween. I enjoyed it so much that I asked Mrs. Midkiff if I could take my story home over the weekend so I could keep writing. From her expression, I think that I was the first student to ever ask her to do additional school work over the weekend! She not only allowed me to continue my story, she encouraged me to keep writing.
I always enjoyed writing, but it wasn't until my first daughter was born that I took an active interest in it. One day when I was at the library, out of curiosity, I picked up a book in the young adult section that was being promoted on the display case. In the first chapter, four letter words were used more times than in the flying scene in Top Gun. In addition to the language, the main character was raped by her uncle and several other very dark and disturbing things happened.
Teenagers already struggle with so many issues and dark thoughts, I felt sad that they were also filling their minds with this dark stuff for 'pleasure' and that books like this were being promoted by our libraries. That lit a fire within me to write the Glendora High Series - a series of books about the temptations, struggles, and life events that most teenagers experience, but from a happier and more traditional viewpoint.
I'm excited for you to join Katie and her friends on their adventures. The fun. The embarrassing. The sad. The scary. And the frustrating - As they experience the highs and lows of life as high school students - and everything in-between!
